{"id":12483,"date":"2016-06-02T15:10:51","date_gmt":"2016-06-02T19:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/?p=12483"},"modified":"2016-06-02T15:14:22","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T19:14:22","slug":"my-story-my-photography-why","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/my-story-my-photography-why\/","title":{"rendered":"My Story | My Photography Why"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12488\" src=\"http:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/02-12483-post\/vertical-bio-for-my-story.jpg\" alt=\"vertical bio for my story\" width=\"720\" height=\"983\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/02-12483-post\/vertical-bio-for-my-story.jpg 720w, https:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/02-12483-post\/vertical-bio-for-my-story-220x300.jpg 220w, https:\/\/www.meridithdesmondphoto.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/02-12483-post\/vertical-bio-for-my-story-264x360.jpg 264w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The moment I\u00a0decided to become a photographer is not exactly a spot\u00a0I\u00a0can record by the ticking of the clock because it happened over time- maybe a few years or so of time.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s go back.\u00a0 I graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Surface Pattern Design.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always been drawn to the arts ever since I was a little girl and my mom threw away my markers for drawing on my bedspread. \u00a0I decided to take NYC\u00a0by storm(not really I was living at home and commuting on the train\u00a0to save some money for one day moving on up and out) and the fashion district called my name.\u00a0 After working for 3 different companies over the course of 12 years I\u00a0was worn out over the commute(now from much closer Hoboken) the big lights and bigger city not to mention that I never really created any artwork of my own- it was all just tweaking this or coping that or following the trends of what is already out there.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>I needed a\u00a0creative\u00a0outlet and started getting more serious with photography in 2010.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Over the course of the next year I photographed a lot of my friends children\u00a0since they were such cute,\u00a0willing subjects\u00a0and available to me. \u00a0I read books and trolled online photography forums well into the night\u00a0to learn all I could, I took a class at the Hoboken HS Continuing Ed and even completed an online photography course all to better myself with my camera and lens.<\/p>\n<p>The family dynamic really stuck with me and I loved capturing that split second(and I mean 1\/250 of a second here!) of time that you will want to remember in 30, 40, 50 years time.\u00a0 The way people interact with and love each other draws me to want to capture it for them in a memory on film(or digital) so they can see for themselves that they are loved.\u00a0 After being at my last company for a few years and doing photography part time on the side for 3 years I decided to make a leap.\u00a0 I was unhappy in my position at work and in life.\u00a0 I needed to create something that mattered to me.\u00a0 Fashion wasn&#8217;t for me. \u00a0It was no longer my passion. \u00a0Some think I was crazy to leave a steady high paying job for something that may or may not pan out.\u00a0 That was 6 years ago and I&#8217;m making it work.\u00a0 I am happy.\u00a0 I am a wife.\u00a0 I am a mom.\u00a0 I get to stay home with my daughter and watch her grow, take her on play dates and still have a creative outlet and a way to make a living. \u00a0I get to hang out with fun, hip, cool families like yours and create something new with each and every one of you!<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5; color: #000000;\"><strong><em>My family is why I do this and having a family of my own makes me yearn to create and preserve memories of\u00a0your family at this season\u00a0in your lives.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 <\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">I know that no family is perfect so I strive to capture those in between moments that are individual to you and your loved ones &#8211; the imperfect ones &#8211; the moments with tongues sticking out, kids exploring and getting messy, tickles and bear hugs from dad, mom cuddling her 7 year old becuase he is her &#8220;baby&#8221; and she never wants to let him go. \u00a0These images are my favorite because these are the times you want to look back on and remember 30 years from now &#8211;
