May 2011 Goals

OK so a look back to my April goals before we move on to my birthday month:

  1. paint the trim in the upstairs hallway- all 4 door trim, 1 window and baseboard(at least there’s no crown molding up there) the actual doors have to wait until it’s warmer and I can take them off the hinges bring them outside to paint. *Done- yay!
  2. paint the walls in the stairwell where Chris scratched it up as he had to bend and take apart our box spring to get it up to our bedroom- at least we aren’t sleeping on just the mattress anymore:) *Done as well- yay!  there was A LOT of painting going on this month
  3. hang more artwork around the house *Done, photos coming soon:)
  4. add more images to the weddings section of my website after the NJ Fast Track shootout next week *Done and you can view them here.
  5. mail units 2 & 3 images to NYIP– the online photo class I’m taking that I’ve TOTALLY slacked on!  *This one is half done- I mailed unit 2 in:)
  6. sell 10 more things on ebay- my new obsession:) *OK I sold 9 things!  I sold another thing to equal 10 but that person never paid!! Grrr- i’m going to re-list it but it’s in ebay moderation right now.
  7. revise my client contracts  *this is going on the list for May
  8. introduce Portrait Collections to my pricing & blog about *done and done!  view the blog post here.  Email me for collection pricing.
  9. start my Pinterest page *OK i started this but have not really done much with it!  I need to actually “pin” things onto my boards- LOL:)  we will consider this 10% done since I have 2 pins- ha!  You can view my boards here.  I know I will LOVE this and become addicted once I get going with it:)
  10. sell my canon 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS lens– if anyone is interested shoot me an email!  I don’t use it that much and I really want to get the 70-200mm 2.8L  *this is going on my May goals
  11. start a quarterly client newsletter *done and you can signup to receive the newsletter here.

A few other things Chris and I did this month:

  • spray paint some old frames- now i just need to get some photos in there and hang them up- OK Chris did this one but I had the idea:)
  • took off the ugly medicine cabinet in our downstairs bath, removed the mirror, spray painted it black and re-hung it- it looks so much better!

Now on to my birthday month and hopefully consistently warmer weather- so far so good on that front!  Today is beautiful outside:)  If I wasn’t waiting to transfer all my files back onto my newly reformatted hard drive so I can work on the images from my session yesterday I would be outside right now!  I have lots in store this month!  It’s my birthday on May 30th and my sister, her husband, Chris and I are going to do the NYC pizza tour!  Cannot wait for that- yum!  You bet there will be a blog post about it and I’m thinking of renting the 35mm for the day:)  My last day of work at my full time job is this Friday!  I am super excited to be moving in a new direction and doing what I love.

  1. Revise my client contracts, this is #1 since I didn’t do it in April!
  2. Create a second shooter contract- this one’s for you Nadya:)
  3. Sell my canon 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS lens a UV filter, and my 1st camera bag which fits a rebel body/kit lens if you’re interested!
  4. re-organize my folders in my external hard drive so they actually make sense- why are price lists under the logo folder??
  5. post on my blog the upstairs bath photos
  6. paint the downstairs bath vanity
  7. collect all the magazine quotes I’ve been saving, make a collage, frame and hang them
  8. **a big maybe on this one**  remove the old ugly ditsy floral wallpaper from the downstairs bath and re-paint.  Chris would love it if I got this done!  Hoping the wallpaper comes off easily.
  9. buy some more succulents to fill in where mine died from the snow we had on April 1st- I don’t think they liked being outside in the cold and snowed on:(  It was warm the day before so I put them out to get some fresh air and sun, then it snowed:(
  10. plant flowers in my hanging baskets for our porch
  11. buy some frames for some of our artwork we’ve collected and hang them- I’ve been eying these of different sizes:)  Chris will not want to go to Ikea with me so I will go 1st thing on a weekday morning to avoid all the crowds.
  12. organize the basement shelves that are just a mess of what we threw up there when we moved in
  13. create a “how to print” guide & print release for my new DVD cases!
  14. blog minimum 3 times a week!  Hope to over achieve here.  I’m hoping to blog everyday for one month at some point soon so this will be a good warm up.

I hope to get all these crossed off since I will have more time to dedicate to my business, blog and things around the house.  Wish me luck!
