Yesterday I received the film scans from our NC Outer Banks vacation that we took in the beginning of June and I couldn’t wait to see them!!  Like a little kid at Christmas when you open that email.  I had brought my film camera and my digital too, I have to cull through and share some of my digital files with you all later this month, but the film scans are always a fun surprise to see what you captured that I like taking that camera with me on trips.  I don’t want to feel like I need to capture every moment of our vacation so I pick and choose the ones I want to remember forever with film.  Film shooting truly makes you stop, slow down and think about what you are actually taking a photo of, rather than just pressing the shutter as much as you can to get that perfect shot.  Anyway since it’s a vacation for me I don’t want to be behind the camera too much I would like to experience the fun and enjoy myself too!

We had a very low key and relaxing vacation with my mom’s side of the family.  It’s nice to be able to travel with family.  Ever since my mom got sick she wasn’t able to or didn’t want to travel too far so this trip would not have happened even just last year.  We just had Logan too so this trip definitely wasn’t happening last year:)  We rented an 8 bedroom house(which is the norm down there) where were able to walk to the beach, swim in the pool out back and cook meals together every night.  We talked about taking a family trip like this every 2 years so any suggestions on places to visit or stay please leave a comment below.  I’m looking forward to shooting more film this year:)
